DIY universal PCB holder

Ready for use

Ready for use

While probing a circuit it is handy if you can stabilize it so it does not dragged over the table edge by the weight of probes and other wire connections.

There are a lot of solutions for sale but I wanted an allround one that also can hold small enclosures or used as a third hand 0r vice.

I used a a small vice from Velleman as a I allready owned that. I then was thinking about making a pcb grip holder for it. While looking in my garage for materials, I needed to cut some material and took a clamp to fixate it. While doing that I thought, why am I trying to make something that looks to the tool I just took. So I took it to my lab and tried it together with the vice. That worked very well but I wanted some profile in the grips to better fixate pcbs so they do not move. I added a piece of aluminum to hold it the vice and a round piece of teflon so I can rotate the clamp.
